If you’re planning a holiday to the sun-drenched, chilled out and trendy town of Byron Bay, make sure to factor in some extra time for day trips to some of the other gorgeous nearby towns. Two that you must not forsake are Newrybar and Bangalow.

Just a short, scenic 15 minute drive from Byron Bay, Bangalow sits high up on the hills of the Byron hinterland. It oozes elegance, charm and style. Start your visit with a wander along the main street and browse the beautiful boutiques. Stop for a scrumptious and nourishing plant-based lunch in the picturesque Woods Cafe, sister of the famous plant-based cafe in Byron Bay by the name of Folk. Make like a local and visit the markets – held on the 4th Sunday of each month – to browse all sorts of treasures, clothing, produce and baked goods. Then go ahead and try to tear yourself away from this whimsical town. Or don’t and stay the night (or a few) instead!

A similarly short 20 minute drive from Byron Bay, Newrybar is a one street town filled with ethical, sustainable and trendy boutiques and cafes. Despite being only a collection of shops, each one really hauls its weight as being a trail blazer and trend setter for your fashion, homewares or foodie needs. Head to Newrybar for the day or treat yourself to a relaxed stay and perhaps indulge in a visit to the nearby Gaia Retreat & Spa.
