After deciding that everyone in the family needed to taste the bliss that is indeed bliss balls, I made sure to put a Christmas spin on these delicious treats. The result was soft, yet crunchy; sweet, yet punchy; and healthy, yet satisfying CHOC GINGERBREAD bliss balls.
Not only were these bliss balls absolutely divine to devour, they were so quick and easy to make. In fact, no cooking was required for these raw vegan treats! And by favouring ingredients like oats, pitted dates, cacao and spices, they were a lot cheaper to make than bliss balls commonly made with more expensive nuts and seeds.
These balls are made entirely from plant based wholefoods and pack a nutritional punch of fibre, protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, B vitamins, healthy omegas, vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium. So though these bliss balls are Christmas themed, I would highly recommend whipping them up regularly for a healthy, nutrient-packed snack that will leave your tummy and taste-buds singing. And really, who says gingerbread is just for Christmas?
Choc Gingerbread Bliss Balls
*makes approx. 9 balls
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1/2 cup oats
- 3 tbsp buckwheat
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tbsp nut butter
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ginger
- Soak the dates in hot water for 10 mins.
- Blend all ingredients together until a ‘dough’ forms.
- Roll mixture into golf sized balls and store in the fridge or freezer.
- Share these delicious treats with loved ones!
